Kidd & Spoor Solicitors are delighted to announce that Sue McArthur, a specialist Family Lawyer-Mediator, has recently joined their Family Team. Sue will be based mainly in the Whitley Bay Office.
Sue brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in both Family Law and Family Mediation.
Sue has been a solicitor for over 25 years. Initially Sue trained and worked in London for 10 years, then moved to Australia where she qualified as both a Solicitor and a Barrister, and then returned to the North East where she worked in Newcastle heading up a Family Department in a Firm for over 13 years.
Sue has lived in Whitley Bay since returning from Australia over 14 years ago, having lived here during her teenage years.
Sue is an Accredited Family Mediator and will assist clients, who in mediation are the couple, either at the beginning of a relationship perhaps agreeing a Pre-Nuptial Agreement or a Cohabitation Agreement, or on or after a separation. Separating couples often need to agree how they can share the care of their children, or help them work their way through the maze of financial disclosure to discuss options to divide assets in a reasonable and fair way.
In her work as a Family Lawyer, Sue ensures that each client is able to tell their story and be advised appropriately as to the best way to ensure a good outcome for them. A good outcome is as different as each client and their unique circumstances. It can mean anything from settling matters quickly by way of the Collaborative Process or Round Table negotiation or issuing court proceedings to obtain a court order.
Sue deals with cases in the collaborative Family Law Process (the ‘no court divorce’) and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist both in complex financial matters for married couples, and, also the separation of cohabiting couples.
Sue is a very approachable, experienced and knowledgeable solicitor and mediator, who deals with all matters, no matter how difficult the circumstances may seem, in a client focused, supportive and practical way. Clients are given detailed and practical advice. Her approach is the same whether clients wish to deal with matters out of court or in court proceedings.
